The documentation of the various phases of the exhibition is combined with a rich selection of texts, which offer various keys to understanding the work: ranging from science fiction to writings by several artists, the cluster of texts and iconographic references accumulates, imitating the layers of meaning and materials that are characteristic of Nelson’s work. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Nelson’s work has centred on the transformation of narrative structure to spatial structure, and on the objects placed within them, immersing the viewer and agitating their perception of these environments. Zhang Enli is dedicated to the installation by the Chinese artist, curated by Geraldine Leardi and Davide Quadrio, for the Galleria Borghese. The site specific work was part of the Committenze Contemporanee programme, designed and developed by Anna Coliva with works by contemporary artists inspired by the Galleria Borghese as an exceptional artistic venue.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; The work of Zhang Enli, who lives and works in Shanghai, reflected on the relationship between architecture and the artwork: in a game of transpositions, historical echoes and hybridisms, the artist created four symbolic structures to show the viewer unexpected narratives, speaking of distant lands and contaminations, and transferring the complexity of the past in the equally stratified reality of the present.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Zhang Enli’s work, one of China’s most important contemporary painters, is explored in depth in the previously unpublished contributions included in the books. The workshop aimed at creating the visual identity for Design confession, a project that BASE Milano organised together with Ventura Lambrate for Salone del Mobile, where people can chat with famous designers sitting in a “confessional” stall.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; A process of “conditional design” brought the students to the creation of a sign that represents the shape of the stall and the cut through which people talk: playing with tapes, a pattern for the visual identity was created and applied to the whole project.&nbsp; The show tries to provide a sort of reading key to the artistic practices of Ramin, Rokni and Hasem, focusing on their working methods, and on the creation and communication processes behind the works. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; The book Forgive me, distant wars, for bringing flowers home details the exhibition, offering images of its set-up and of the artists in action and it traces the trio’s eclectic style in its structure and graphics.
